Bann’s Duck Race a great success; thank you for your generosity.

Bann Rowing Club  held its fund raising Duck Race on a glorious autumn afternoon. Young Angus Hamilton’s aunt was the trainer of the winning duck which led from start to finish and clearly wanted the win more than the remainder of the field.  A brand new Barbour coat will be on its way to this lucky winner as supplied by Smyths Country Sports, Coleraine.

The Club Captain Mr Keith Leighton following the race addressed the considerable crowd of athletes, parents and supporters thanking them for their generosity in raising much needed funds.  He praised the effort of all the committee and club coaches within Bann who through long hours of endeavour help to keep Bann Rowing Club at the forefront of Irish rowing.

Mr Leighton explained that any offer of help from parents or supporters whether from a rowing background or not would be gratefully received by the current coaching staff, he also touched on the considerable cost of running a successful club and competing Ireland wide. Any person who could assist in future fund raising projects, sponsorship or grant applications was asked to contact any committee member or Club coach. (this can be done via email to )

A very pleasurable afternoon closed with the Club Captain reminding the crowd of the forth coming annual Bann Dinner on Saturday 8th October 2011 at the Bushtown House Hotel Coleraine.
