Bann Rowing Club exceed 1 million meters during sponsored indoor rowing event

Congratulations to the 82 members and some guests of Bann Rowing Club who took part in our indoor rowing event. The target set serveral months ago of achieving one million meters in a twenty four period seemed increasingly daunting as the big day approached. Fortune smiled on the brave and warm dry weather and a cooling east breeze permitted our 9 ergs to be moved outside to the courtyard so indoor became an outdoor event. The event was led off by verterans Ken and Norman who both amassed a very creditable 20k each in their first session, this set the tone for the day with the many junior members literally queuing up to have a go. Linda and Maja as in so many club events kept the teams nourished with soup and pasta our thanks goes out to them.

All nine ergs were in constant use from just prior to 9am to 5pm when Lori one of our stand out female athletes had the honour of rowing the millionth meter during a 15k session. Other exceptional performances were from John G who with 32k to his name completed more meters than anyone and also to new members Matthew L and Jonny who silently completed in excess of 20k each.

To those who have generously sponsored the many athletes, thank you on behalf of the entire Rowing Club, you should be very proud of the effort and commitment displayed today. We look forward to seeing you all at the forthcoming table quiz which hopefully will involve slightly less sweat and tears!!!!
